Multimédia

Saint Gab has various types of equipment to help cater to everyone's needs and lend its support to the various individuals within their sectors of activity (pupils, teaching and administrative staff).

  • Several classrooms for general teaching are equipped with an overhead projector and screen, and connectivity to the computer network.
  • Four audiovisual rooms complete with video recorder, DVD player, videoprojector or TV, laptop...
  • Three computing spaces dedicated to language learning
  • Three multi-disciplinary computing rooms accessible during the day and on a self-service basis in the evening for boarders (personal projects, Internet, electronic messaging).
  • Computing facilities are also present in most Earth/Life science and physics laboratories and in all laboratories devoted to vocational and technology learning.
  • Several videoprojectors with laptops are available in various locations with connectivity to the establishment's network to access different types of information (presentations, internet, videos, etc.).
  • Each computer offers secure, high-speed filtered access to the Internet.
Focus on computing :

Increasingly, audiovisual media (cassettes, slides, transparencies, etc.) are now being computerised to give us the media we are familiar with today.
32 km of network cabling.
20 km of electrical wiring.
1.3 km of optic fibre cabling.
1000 computer sockets.
6 servers + computer network core in a special building.
16 technical sub-spaces in various locations.
Approx. 500 computers in total (Collège and Lycée).
75 network + 50 non-network printers.
SDSL 2 Mbits Professional Internet Access

Daily :

Each of the 2,000 network users (pupils, teaching and administrative staff) has an account or disk space protected by a password, which gives access to personal data and common resources depending on their area of activity.

The same system is found in universities or businesses and enables individuals to connect to the network to access their data wherever they happen to be. For example, a pupil may begin a piece of work during a Personal Project session in a laboratory, continue it that evening in a multi-purpose room and finally present it in an audiovisual room, without the need for disks or CD-ROMs.
