The institute
Saint Gab is a private mixed Catholic school, founded in 1838 by the Brothers of Saint-Gabriel, in the very locality where their founder, Saint Louis-Marie Grignon de Montfort died, namely Saint-Laurent-sur-Sèvre in Vendée.
Built on 55,000 m2, the property dates from the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constantly being refurbished and features all the amenities required for a top-quality facility.
The Saint Gab educational programme is inspired by the recommendation of the General Superior of the Brothers of Saint-Gabriel. Saint Gab sets out to maintain a long-standing tradition of scholarly excellence, earned by its students' results in exams, open competitions and successful entries into some of the most prestigious grandes écoles. It is a tradition of excellence that encompasses a warm reception extended to all students, a primary focus on relations among young people and their personalised supervision and the transmission of strong values, including assiduity and independence...
Saint Gab has an industrial technical tradition born of the desire to combine training and a recognition of professional status. In its three training channels (electronics, electrotechnical engineering and computer-integrated manufacturing), Saint Gab ensures that the institution in question has a grip on the realities of the economic environment, i.e.:
- Material and technical realities, by ensuring the quality of the facilities made available to students.
- Human realities, by ensuring the quality of relations maintained with partner businesses and the local or regional industrial fabric.
Saint-Gabriel offers to provide instruction that is relevant to the needs of the time.
That concern manifests itself in several ways, namely :
- The scrupulous attention given to defining and supervising the students' personal development project, both in the collège and the lycée...
- The desire to provide a window onto the world
- The desire to incorporate the learning acquired at the collège and the lycée into the new technologies context, notably multimedia (equipment for scientific and technical laboratories, language learning, CDI school library, etc.).
Saint Gab has a boarding school tradition: 900 lycée- and collège-goers, both boys and girls, are currently boarders. This tradition and the present situation go towards making it a primarily educative living environment :
- Teaching young people to live together
- Teaching young people to build their own independence
- Teaching young people Beauty, Good and Holy values.
Saint Gab's educational aim, both for residents and non-residents, at the collège or the lycée, is to develop an individual's personal culture. To serve this aim, students are offered professional guidance, a pedagogy contract and numerous cultural activities.
Encouraging youngsters to add meaning to their lives
A Catholic education establishment, Saint Gab bases itself on the values of the Evangelist. As an educative living environment, it is keen to develop a personal culture, offering young people so wishing it an education in the Catholic faith and Christian values. Among those values, respect is considered the most important for everyone.
